Raymond David Akers, Sr.
Of Indianapolis
Passed away on June 6, 2013.
He retired from the Indianapolis Public School systems after 39 years of service in 2004. He also was employed by the Parks & Recreations for 18 years. He was a faithful tither at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Gloves Committee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen V. Akers, sisters, Marilyn Ricketts, Delores Penelton, Barbara Simonton, brothers, Delbert, Norval L., Edward T. and Robert Akers, Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Tanya R. Akers of Atlanta, Georgia, son, Raymond David Akers, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia brothers, Eugene W. Akers, John R. Akers, Sr. and one granddaughter, Iman Assy Akers.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 15th, 2013, 11 A.M. at Mt Carmel Baptist Church, 9610 East 42nd Street. Visitation will be on Friday, June 14th, 2013 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. and on Saturday, June 15th, 2013 from 10 A.M. until the time of service. The family requests that old school brims be worn at the repast immediately following the interment. “Everything’s Lovely” Burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
