Juanita Elliot Mosley, 82 of Houston, Texas transitioned from this life on May 30, 2012. Mrs. Juanita Elliot Mosley was born on July 19,1929, the second child of Rev. Jessie Ray and Willa Mae Elliot of Kokomo, Indiana. Juanita was a graduate of Kokomo High School and attended St. Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana. She waa a former member of the Historic Wayman Chapel AME Church in Kokomo, Indiana, St. Mark AME Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Central Ministries United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Her diverse professional career led her to positions with Delco Radio, Helen Gallagher Gifts, Milwaukee Public Schools, Wiscounsin Electric Company and Wisconsin Gas Company, where she retired.
Juanita had a passion and a passion and a gift for services to others. This devotion to service lead her to volunteer roles with the NAACP (Milwaukee and Atlanta Chapters), Hamilton High School Booster Club (Milwaukee), Clark Atlanta University Art Museum (Atlanta)a nd Hosea Feed the Hungry (Atlanta). Her diverse talent and adventurous spirit landed her a cameo appearance in Tyler Perry's movie, "Diary of a Mad Black Woman".
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Jessie Ray Elliot, a former Associate Pastor at the Historic Wayman Chapel; her mother, Willa Mae Elliot; and one brother, Elvin Ray Elliot.
She is survived by her daughter, Renita Ann Patrick (Kenneth), of Houston, Texas; son, Tracey Ray Mosley (Susan) of Atlanta, Georgia; stepson, Nathaniel Mosley, Jr. (Debria) of Indianapolis, Indiana; stepdaughter, Ira Elliot (James) of Winchester, Tennessee; brother, Cecil Ewig (Jean) of Gary Indiana. she also leaves to perpetuate her legacy eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of cousins, family and beloved friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Historic Wayman Chapel AME Church. Pastor Louis Parham will officate. Mrs. Mosley will lie in state prior to the funeral from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Buiral will immediately follow at Crown Point Cemetery.
